Moray’s Homecoming Celebrations |

Join Moray in celebrating Homecoming Scotland, and experience the rich cultural heritage of whisky, golf, and the lives of the people of Moray, from lowly fisher lassies to those who went out into the world to make their name.
Come back to Moray to explore your families’ roots in the fishing, farming, and distilling industries that developed from the regions’ natural resources- rivers of pristine water, fields of golden barley, seas of silver herring.
Find out about Moray’s contribution to the world and commemorate the lives of famous people from Moray, the good, the bad or the fabricated, during the Homecoming Scotland year.
Moray Connections is an exciting programme of events and exhibitions running throughout 2009 across Moray and historic Banffshire. Start to trace your family history by asking the experts at our series of family history fairs- you might be lucky and find a photograph of an ancestor. Hear about the lives of the quines and loons as they travelled the world, leaving their mark on places like Dallas, Texas, India and the Canadian railways. Was Shakespeare inspired to write the play MacBeth after a golfing trip to Scotland? - look out for performances of Playing a Round with Shakespeare in the autumn.
Click on the links in the What’s On calendar to find out what is on in your neighbourhood, and keep checking as there will be more to come as local communities create their own Homecoming festivities.
